What does a College look for on a transcript?

Homeschool
Most colleges and universities recognizes that transripts from home schoolers may vary widely from family to family. However, all high school transcripts must meet certain standards to facilitate an admission decision and academic placement should the applicant be admitted.

Records should indicate the courses completed; the credits, units, or hours associated with each course; and a letter or numerical grade indicating the student's level of performance in that subject area for that year. Any SAT or ACT college entrance exam results should be clearly reported.

Courses or subjects reflected on the transcript should be organized by grade level (9 through 12) and date.

Final transcripts to be considered "final" must include a "Graduation Date" and a signature from the school administrator (usually a parent).

What records will I need to complete an official transcript?

If you are compiling your child's high school transcript using our software, you may update it annually during the high school years. Simply save each student's transcript and reopen to edit each year until completed. Additionally, each family may use this software for additional children in their family - no need to repurchase our template.

Records you will need:

  • Attendance (annually)
  • Courses completed
  • Grades (letter and percentage assessment)
  • SAT or ACT scores
  • Extra curricular activities or Work history during the high school years

Most states require some form of accountability either through the state, association or umbrella program. Refer to your state for your specific legal requirements for home schooling.
